A trip back home to Rockford, IL last week while my oldest was on spring break from school means sneaking in a session with these two. Their beautiful mama and I go way back and I love catching up with her and the girls while I’m in town. Mother Nature definitely kept things interesting with the rain, so the girls lucked out and scored a play break while we waited it out at Sinnissippi Park. So gorgeous. And these photos are so them.
Cheers,
Kate
During one of my random trips back home to Rockford, IL to visit family, I got to meet up with this family and spend some time with their boys out at Aberdeen Park. I had so much fun chatting about things they love. Lego Star Wars, dinosaurs, and birthday cake; three of my favorite topics. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and the boys were definitely fun to chase around on a playground.
Thank you so much, Cathy! It was an absolute joy to spend an afternoon with your boys!

Oh, LAWD, I love this family. Erica of Outloud Photography contacted me for family photos and I was beyond excited to hang out with her amazing kiddos again! We braved the chilly temps and high winds in Warrens, WI. They ROCKED it out. Ethan is learning guitar and brought it along to play. Ella brought her doll that had the same adorable hair as herself thanks to mama. Sean brought Skittles and kept an eye on those suckers so we wouldn’t sneak any of them. We played an awesome game of “Where’s the Skittles? {Right thurr!} Where’s my camera? {Right thurr!}”.
Erica + Brian, you guys have the most beautiful family and are truly blessed. Love you guys all so muchly and can’t wait to see you again next year!!
Much lovely,
Kate
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, lovelies, prepare for awesomeness! It’s not often that I get the chance to rock out a family session these days{I seriously LOVE them, if you’re looking for family photos you should contact me STAT!}, so when Lacey + Brad asked if they could use their engagement session as a family session I was PUMPED! I loved spending the afternoon out at their farm and hanging out with their adorable little family. It worked out great as Brad’s mom was there to give the kiddos little breaks while I entertained Lacey + Brad with all my sweet jokes!
In all seriousness, this is how I approach all my family sessions. All parents should have photos of just the two of them to swoon over!
Lacey + Brad, thank you SO much for the absolutely awesome afternoon! Can’t wait to see all four of you again at the wedding! Tell Brayden he’s pretty much the best assistant ever!
Without further rambling, some of my favorites from their session:
Cheers,
Kate
I need to do this more often. Two afternoons. One roll of film. My kids. Soaking up the last bits of summer.
