In Katelandia, I talk a lot about connection and building relationships not only in daily life, but the importance in connecting with your wedding vendors. To me, connection is at the very heart of wedding photography. Your wedding day is truly a celebration and I’m along for the ride during the most intimate moments. I want you to know that I’m here to hug it out through happy tears or laugh right along with you. It’s truly important to me that you know my smiling face and not just my giant camera on your wedding day. During the planning process, I really got to know Amanda + Roger over donuts, over beers and the conversations in between. We laughed, we cried, and we powered through any stressful moments together. This is what happens when you hire a vendor team that makes you comfortable and truly loves on you throughout the day. Thank to you Team Awesome (their names and websites are below) for making this day so joyful to photograph. Thank you to their families for letting us share in such a beautiful day with you.
My favorites: Amanda hand selected all of the brooches for all of the bouquets and made each one truly unique. The magnetic backs on all of the boutinneres by Jennifer Joyce Design made for the fastest “pinning” EVER. The chicken hat family wedding tradition during the chicken dance! Amanda and her dad had their first dance on roller skates (which a tribute to her mom and dad’s first dance at their own wedding!!). The kissing menu made for lots of fun candids to get the couple to kiss. The beautiful church doors that Amanda’s dad built. The vintage car and getting to sneak away for portraits with my favorite light. Getting to hug it out with Amanda as she wrote her vows before the ceremony. Seeing a table set for all of the vendors that helped make her day special. Getting thanked by Amanda’s dad in his welcome speech along with the rest of Team Awesome. Laughter, laughter and more laughter. The lock ceremony where they threw away the keys! Amanda’s purple chucks, because comfort is important. The clock photo because that moment in time was just perfection.
