Based on their engagement session last fall, I knew their wedding was going to be filled to the brim with laughter, love, whiskey, amazing food and happy people. All of those items are on my favorites list. Sarah is absolutely beautiful and has this laugh that just sucks you in. Her style is extremely romantic and I could not wait to get to the cabin to capture their hard work. You guys. The love and attention that went into this wedding from their families was intense. Picking favorites for this blog post was nearly impossible.
We started out the day with Sarah and her sister at Adeline in Duluth, MN. We had a field day shooting details in the salon while the girls happily chattered about the day. From there we headed down the hill to Sarah + Seth’s home to get ready. Seth himself was getting ready at the neighbor’s house across the street. What did I love most about their first look location? It happened right in their backyard. The same backyard where Seth built a patio for Sarah when they first started dating. I could close my eyes in their little garden and imagine all the laughter they’d shared there. It was perfection. Sarah’s dress was insanely gorgeous. And her shoes? WOAH. Seth’s suit? Straight out of a bridal magazine on what every groom should be wearing this year. You guys, just wow.
From home, we stopped to shoot beautiful portraits at an overlook with Duluth below. Side note: driving a 5 speed in Duluth is challenging. My clutching leg definitely got a workout. We hit the road headed for Seth’s family cabin in Ellsburg, MN where the ceremony and reception would take place. One Redbull pit stop and sixty minutes later, we arrived at the lake ready to get the celebration going. It was unseasonably cold that day, but everyone threw on quilts and made it work. And by work, I mean everyone HELPED. The family cabin had been transformed into a dream wedding location. A tiny shed was converted into a bar lit with holiday lights. Lights had been strung from every tree. There were old toy trucks put out for the kids to play with. Tiki torches lit the way down the driveways and back to the camp site locations. They had a notebook with drawings for the bridal party to convert the ceremony site into the reception site while the couple greeted their guests in the receiving line. The caterers were busy assembling the most beautiful cocktail hour appetizers I’d ever seen. The tables were thoughtfully set and served family style (which causes more interaction and chatter during dinner which I LOVE). The food? I could go on for ages about that alone. I’ve moved around the country and eaten my way through every region, but the dinner we had under the trees that night was incredible. The night continued under the stars and lights with dancing, laughter and plenty of libations from Woody In. Perfection.
Thank you so much Sarah + Seth for sharing your day with us. It was a joy to celebrate with your loving family and friends.
